A completely balanced life is as likely as finding a dancing leprechaun holding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. (Sorry to be the bearer of bad news- on both accounts.)
But, BEFORE I knew that little gem, I definitely gave balance my best shot at perfection.
It didn’t take me long to realize that there’s no such thing as perfect balance. But as I clawed, cried, and fought my way to trying, I took away some lessons that have been worth their weight in gold.
When I INTENTIONALLY PURSUED life balance, something crazy started to happen. I PAID ATTENTION TO MY LIFE. Day by day, I started to become more present in what was happening around me. I began to self-reflect and learned a crap ton about myself in the process. (If you’re wondering, that’s a LOT of learning.) Awareness of the BALANCED 7 instantly began to showcase my strengths and most definitely highlighted my weaknesses.
This was awesome! Pursuing (albeit imperfect) balance gifted me freedom and liberated me to be who I was. Perhaps more importantly, it gave me permission not to fret about who I WASN’T. It opened up space for me to LIVE OUT MY PURPOSE.
Are you searching for your purpose? Well, maybe THIS will speak to your heart…
God tells us that your purpose and mine is to LOVE His people like crazy. John 13:34-35 (NIV) “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Isn’t that amazing?!
And here’s where life gets super rad, my friends. The WAY we choose to love others is entirely up to us. We were all born with unique and special talents, personalities, and gifts. We get to USE THOSE THINGS to love other people. ALL people. HIS people. Romans 12:6-8 (NIV) “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”
Pursuing balance gets me all kinds of fired up because of what it DOES. It minimizes distraction. It highlights what’s really important in our lives. The intentional pursuit of balance helps us to REALLY know ourselves so we can love others with reckless abandon. It brings freedom and peace and PURPOSE.
My hope for this blog is that we come along side each other and love each other like rock stars. I pray that we can support one another, stretch one another, and encourage one another to grow. It would be my honor to laugh with you, be inspired by you, and to do this thing called life with you. It is my prayer that as you Balance With Me, we can live life ON purpose FOR our purpose-together.
