I’ve been writing letters to my sweet girl before she was born. Writing is my love language, so it’s the best way I know how to capture these precious moments of her life.
Lil’ AC is now a year and a HALF. How the heck THAT happened, I’m still not sure, but this milestone has definitely inspired another letter.
My Dear Sugar Bear, Sugs, Sweet Pea, Nugget, and Monkey (I want to remember all the silly names we call you because, surely, one day, you will not allow us to mention these in public.)
You are 18 months old and Mommy and Daddy are BESIDE themselves with how fast time has flown. It truly seems like yesterday when we brought you home that warm summer night to our freaked-out lick-monster, Leonidas.
After dancing and singing, talking just might be your favorite thing right now. Daddy and I love to sit and listen to all the stories you like to tell! We also adore the special way you say certain words and phrases…
IOU (I love you), Peez (Please), Yeo, yo yoise! (Leo, no noise!), Pay (Pray), Hep You (Help You, which really means Help ME), Upwego (Up we go), Bel-but (Belly button) Bee Bells (Jingle Bells), and Ba-mia (Banana) just to name a few. You say “night night”, “thank you”, “all done” and “amen” like a champ. And when you fall down or get hurt you like to tell yourself, “Oh honey, oh honey.”
We are so proud of the way you play and interact with other kids. You get so excited to see your friends and definitely thrive on social interaction. I’m pretty certain you do not have a shy bone in your body.
You are brushing your teeth, great at playing the drums, and started telling Mommy when you poo-poo (I’m still not sure if you’re telling me before or after, but that’s ok. 😉 Ask me to tell you the story of The Great Poop Mistake when you’re older. And potty trained!)
You can make Daddy and me stop everything we’re doing by bringing us a book and asking to read. We can never say no to a request like that. 🙂
Kiddo- you eat like CRAZY. Seriously, you are constantly asking for a snack, or signing to eat. It’s exhausting! But I’m definitely thankful you have a healthy appetite and are growing so strong.
Your personality is shining through and most of the time you are sweet, silly, and independent. For some reason, you now hate having your diaper changed and contort your body into exasperating positions. You also have figured out how to throw a true tantrum, which rears its ugly head when Daddy and I have decided that a certain game is over, but you do not agree.
You are a great sleeper and are officially taking one nap per day. You often go straight to your room when we say it’s time for “Ni-Night”, which we are fully aware will probably last as long as a unicorn sighting.
You are Mommy’s partner in crime. We are shopping buddies, workout partners, and two peas in a pod. On the rare occasion I am running errands by myself, I feel naked and lonely. (Also a little giddy. Not gonna lie to ya, sweetheart. ;))
When Daddy comes home from work, you go into MAJOR show-off mode. You start to dance and squeal and show him all of your toddler tricks.
When you feel bad or sick, Mommy is the only one you want. I secretly adore this and pray that never changes.
These things, among so many others, are what make you our special little girl. But something else you must know is how crazy-much we love you.
We have spent hours just staring at you in amazement. We love watching you solve problems and listening to you sing. It is so sweet to observe how nurturing you are to your (plethora of) baby dolls. Your Daddy and I hold hands and back tears as we marvel at what a gift we have been blessed with. We are in awe of how you have grown and developed and look forward to all the new phases ahead.
We pray for you every day. We pray for your health and protection, and we pray that you come to have a deep, exciting, and personal relationship with Jesus. We pray that you grow up to be kind, to love others, to be brave, and to know that God has a very special purpose for you here on this earth. We pray that you know, without a shadow of a doubt, that you are SO RIDICULOUSLY LOVED- by your daddy and me, countless friends and family, and by your Father in Heaven.
Happy 18 months, my sweet girl. We love you SOOO big!
