Thanks for taking this journey with me as we uncover how to overcome insecurity!
Today I want to uncover the final piece to our personal puzzle… WHAT we can do about it!
This is the happy part! This is the place where we take a deep breath and say, “We can BEAT this! This won’t define us! We can have freedom!”
Soooo… let’s unpack WHAT we can do to be FREE from these nasty chains!
- Have Hope!
Now that we know where insecurity comes from, we can identify the TRUTH. And the truth is full of hope and promise. Jesus has already defeated insecurity (it also has a different name). He sacrificed His life so we could hold tight to that truth and it can give us hope that with Him, we can do all things…even kill our insecurities. He doesn’t promise perfection, but He does promise that He will always be there and will draw you closer and closer to Him. *Spoiler alert- the closer your relationship is with God, the further away those insecurities disappear. 🙂
The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.- 1 John 3:8b
- Be Brave!
We have the ultimate warrior on our team! He has already won the victory, but we must grab His hand in order to claim it for ourselves. That takes courage! Bravery! Fearlessness! Faith! Much to my dismay (at times), God does not give me the future play-by-play. He rarely reveals all the details, and that drives me crazy, but it drives me right into His arms. When I truly sit and ponder all that He has done and continues to do for me, the least I can do is trust Him, do what He asks of me, and JUMP. When I remember that He made me ON purpose and FOR a purpose, it empowers me to be brave.
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.- 1 Corinthians 57-58
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.- Hebrews 12:1-2
- When in doubt, Love!
Jesus tells us (and shows us how!) to love one another time and time again. Often, when Jesus walked this earth, His love did not make sense, follow the “rules” or benefit Him in any way. He just gave His heart in hopes that someone else would do the same. If we keep in mind that we ALL are made in His image, with hopes, dreams, and sensitive hearts, it’s a bit easier to extend kindness, forgiveness, and love. Loving another person (especially when insecurity tells you not to) won’t always turn out the way you planned, but it will ALWAYS change YOU for the better. Nothing kills insecurity quite like love.
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.- 1 John 4:7-8
Wow. That was INTENSE, wasn’t it?! I hope you had a chance to really reflect on and ponder some of these tough questions. And I hope you came out of it knowing yourself a little better; I hope you feel incredibly empowered to be an even better (freer! happier! more peaceful!) version of YOU!
It is also my prayer that this has brought you closer to our Savior and that when you feel burdened with fear and insecurity, you know EXACTLY where to turn.
With all my love,
