Blogs are pretty darn personal. And I feel very strongly that if I do not share with you who I really am, it would be misleading and inauthentic. So, with that being said, I address this topic openly and excitedly. Spirituality can be the hottest of hot buttons for people, and for good reason. Spirituality DEFINES who we are at our very core. So, as I expand on my own personal experience, know this: I’m going to be extremely vulnerable with you. Please be patient and open with me as I attempt to put this very complex concept into words. After an immense amount of thought, studying, prayer, and discussion, I am incredibly confident and happy with my personal spiritual journey. It is also important for you know that personal growth is a priority for me in every aspect of my life. I am constantly learning, always listening, and never (not for one second!) think I know it all or have it all figured out. So, thanks in advance for reading. 🙂
- What was the absolute BEST vacation you ever had?
- What is the most profound book you’ve ever read?
- Have you ever had a conversation that was completely life-changing?
If you had an answer for each question, how did you react after each of those experiences? If it was truly powerful, I’m willing to bet that it was an exhilarating and motivating moment full of joy and happiness. More than likely, you wanted to shout it from the rooftops and tell everyone you knew.
- Have they SEEN that island?!
- Have you READ that novel?!
- You will NEVER believe what she said!!
That is how I feel about my relationship with Jesus. He has rocked my world in such awesome ways, I can’t help but want to tell everyone I know. When something amazing touches your life, don’t you want others to share the same experience? I certainly do. It really is that simple. My intent with this post is not to Bible battle, debate religion, or discuss theology. (Although I will say that I have the educational background and personal experience to hold my own with each of those categories.) I just want to share some personal insight and let you know what (or rather, who) the majority of my thoughts and decisions are based on.
I believe that Jesus walked this earth, lived a perfect life, and died on a cross to ensure that I will be with Him in Heaven for eternity when I die. I believe He rose from the dead, just as He promised, and that when He left this earth, He gave each believer the gift of His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives in me, guides me, speaks to me, and protects me. I know that when I pass away, I will live forever in Heaven, and I’ve done nothing to deserve or earn that. I know Heaven will be free of pain, disease, sadness, depression, and every other trial we face in this life. I know that it will be breathtakingly beautiful, crazy fun, and full of excitement. And I want everyone I know and love to be there with me.
This blog is about life balance. And the reason balance is so important to me is so that I do not get distracted from my God-given purpose. I believe each one of us has a specific and unique reason for which we exist. Do you know what your purpose is? Do you know where to go to find it? Jesus does. He knows exactly why you’re alive and He wants you to live the most amazing life possible. He wants to show you what that looks like.
So, in my own miniscule way, I want to help. I want to encourage you to grow in your spiritual journey. I want you to balance your life so that you can pay attention to the really important details. I want you to know who you are and why you are here on this earth. I want you to be living a life so full of passion, purpose, and intentionality, that you want to tell every. single. person. you. know!
What is your purpose, what are you doing about it, and how does it impact your life?
